£100m Rochdale Town Centre Redevelopment Project Underway.
Genr8 Developments submitted plans for the regeneration back in 2016 and Phase one is well underway with Willmott Dixon as the main contractor even after M&S are said to have pulled out of the flagship scheme.
The development consists of Four commercial units and associated decked car park which will provide the area with retail, food and drink facilities. Plans also include a new cinema, a gym and new road layouts, landscaping and infrastructure.
Designed by architects TP Bennett the scheme hopes to encourage further investment into the town and the contractors are helping to boost the local economy by focusing on using local companies on the build when possible.
The project is due to complete by 2020 and will cost in the region of £39 million for the first phase. Overall value for the town centre regeneration is expected to reach around £100 million.
The scheme will have about 24 shops and restaurants. It is estimated it could create more than 1,000 jobs and boost the local economy by £17 million a year.
Other firms to have signed up for the scheme include Next and cinema chain Reel.
